About this product

Drop-in triggers are a big part of what leaves our warehouse, so it is worth saying up front that CZ's new DUTY 4.0 arrives with its trigger already sorted. The refined SFDA unit is specified at 5.6±0.9 lbs, with 9 mm of travel and a 4 mm reset, and it is a factory part, not an upgrade you buy afterward. The rest of the pistol follows the same idea: a striker-fired 9x19mm built on a serialized internal chassis with a modular fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip frame, a direct-mount optics cut and fixed sights.

Sizes are simple. The C compact gives you 15+1 rounds, 17+1 with the extended base plate, in a 770 g, 135 mm tall gun. The F full-size gives you 17+1, 19+1 extended, in a 780 g, 143 mm tall gun. Both carry a 4-inch barrel without threads inside a 188 mm, 33 mm wide package. MS models add a manual thumb safety alongside the firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety. CZ lists it at $729.

Compact means 15+1 rounds in a frame 5.3 in (135 mm) high. Fit the extended floor plate and it holds 17+1. At 27.2 oz (770 g) unloaded it sits between a pocket pistol and a service-size gun, which is exactly where a carry-and-nightstand 9mm belongs.

The chassis is serialized and modular, which is CZ's way of making the polymer grip swappable. The frame itself is fiberglass-reinforced polymer, 1.3 in (33 mm) wide, on a 4-inch barrel and a 7.4 in (188 mm) overall length. The SFDA trigger breaks at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) and resets in 0.16 in (4 mm). Optics mount directly to the slide; the photos from CZ show Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield footprints.

No external safety here. The firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger-bar safety handle drop safety, and the holster handles the rest. CZ sells the same gun with a frame-mounted lever as the MS model.

The CZ DUTY 4.0 C suits anyone who wants a modern optics-ready 9mm with CZ's grip and a trigger that is better than the class average: daily carry, a nightstand gun that also rides along, and new buyers who want one pistol for everything.

Magazines and triggers from the same order ship to your address as usual, but the pistol itself ships only to an FFL dealer. Tell us which dealer at checkout. When the gun arrives there, the dealer runs the transfer and applies whatever your state requires for a handgun pickup. We leave the legal side entirely to the dealer, since they know the local rules and we do not set them.

Frequently asked questions

Will older CZ magazines work in the DUTY 4.0?
CZ has not confirmed compatibility with magazines from its earlier pistol lines, so plan on the magazines made for the DUTY 4.0 until CZ says otherwise.
Can the DUTY 4.0 trigger be swapped for a drop-in?
We do not list any drop-in for it, and the factory refined SFDA trigger at about 5.6 lbs with a 4 mm reset is the reason most buyers will not look for one.
Does the CZ DUTY 4.0 C take CZ P-10 magazines?
CZ lists the DUTY with its own 15-round magazine and an extended base plate for 17+1. P-10 magazine fit is not confirmed, so plan on DUTY magazines.
Is the compact easy to shoot?
It shares the 4-inch barrel and slide with the full-size gun, so the sight radius is the same. Only the grip is shorter.
